SAG Awards 2015 – The winners for the 2015 annual Screen Actors Guild Awards have been announced and it’s another great night for British talent – most noticeably for Eddie Redmayne who rose victorious in Best Actor category for the Stephen Hawking based biopic The Theory of Everything.
Box-office smash Birdman walked away with the biggest award of the night, Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture – the independent gem starring Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Zach Galifinakis and Edward Norton has been widely tipped to win big this award season and it certainly didn’t disappoint.
Julianne Moore, Patricia Arquette and J.K. Simmons also emerged winners in their respected categories for performances that were nothing short of outstanding.
The biggest surprises of the night came in the television categories with Orange is the New Blackwinning two awards including Best Ensemble Cast in a Comedy Series and Best Female Actress in a Comedy Series for star Uzo Aduba. British heavyweight Downton Abbey was crowned the winner of Best Ensemble Cast in a Drama Series, beating out other major contenders Game of Thrones, Boardwalk Empire, Homeland and House of Cards.
